In a time that tested their resilience and grit, all our employees stood their grounds to support our businesses and kept it running. While the rest of Singapore was in complete lockdown with the onset of an unprecedented pandemic, specific segments of the workforce was thrust into the front-line to lead the battle against it.
And among them were employees at ATALIAN Singapore – our cleaners, gardeners and pest control technicians. With increasing demands for our services, many of them had to dedicate additional hours on their job scopes.
Therefore, as a gesture to thank them for their contributions and support to the company’s unhampered business operations, and meeting clients’ needs to keep their premises (schools, malls, offices, hospitals, etc) clean and safe, the management made the move to set aside funds for a ‘Special Incentive’ payout for them.
Totalling close to a million dollars, the payouts were designed to be rolled out in three tranches, for the over 1,000-strong workforce. The first and second tranches of the payout was made in November last year and May this year. The third payout will be in August, celebrating National Day with our well-deserved unsung heroes.
Said ATALIAN Global Service Singapore’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Abdul Aziz Yusof, “Our people will always be our backbone of all that we do, as at the heart of it all, we are a people business. Hence, appreciating them through respect, recognition and rewards in all forms possible is second nature to us. I drive appreciation events at the slightest opportunities, and at most recent times, we felt that as a company, they truly deserved a special package of monetary incentives. And we were happy that we received the support for this initiative from the Board of our ATALIAN Group.”
The funds have been an additional form of financial support for our workers. Said Mr Ang Thian Keng, 68 years old, who has been with the company for one year now, “It was really a pleasant surprise for all of us, and we are really touched by the company’s gesture to appreciate our efforts. Our company has always been caring and this is another example. I am happy to be part of this big family.”
In fact, the management has extended assistance on many aspects to ensure the continued welfare of our workforce, especially during the times that most of them bore the brunt of the crisis that we are still grappling with.
For instance, when the sudden Malaysian Movement Order Control was imposed last year, we quickly mobilised our resources to ensure that our Malaysian employees were housed comfortably in hotels, also providing them meals and allowances. Similarly, we have a robust welfare programme in place within our various business units to ensure that all our foreign workers’ needs are always well addressed.
Senior management also distributed specially assembled care packs personally, right at the job sites for all our employees, to further express appreciation for their selfless contributions since the onset of the pandemic.
